- Molly Goddard AW16 collection
Fashion at a risk
Molly Goddard’s AW16 shone out last year and as always her beautiful tulle dresses were the main attraction. She brought ruffles and pleats to 2016. Yet again created a unique way of bringing her collection to the runway. In her past shows Molly hasn’t stuck with the typical catwalk. Instead she sets a scene and shows off her designs in a completely different way. In previous years she held a party and made her friends wear her creations, another she set up her own live art gallery where the models wore her collection and painted in a setting that fitted her theme perfectly. She has created some outstanding collections and also brought to 2016 the new way of expressing her work. I’m sure more amazing dresses and exciting ways to showcase work are to come in the future which will be super exciting to see!
Another designer who stood out in 2016 of course is Gucci. Designs inspired by nature, patterns and cultures made magical runway shows. Gucci is known for it’s eccentric themes and mixing the old with the new. Who could forget the whimsical campaigns Gucci created along the way? Gucci gave a classy and feminine feel to 2016. Last year was memorable for Gucci’s runways inspiring the fashion world and creating amazing shows and garments, Maybe next year will bring even more luxurious designs.
2016 was a fashion revolution in itself. Creating rebellious new trends and giving each collection true meanings. Other designers that made 2016 a memorable year for fashion were Shrimps with it’s iconic coats and whacky illustrations. Ashish and it’s gorgeous glittery collections. Charles Jeffery (Loverboy) stole the hearts of many party animals and fashion lovers. And of course Chanel and it’s classy elegant collections. Whether it’s accessories, shoes or the clothes you wear, 2016 has been a year of self expression. I’m sure there’s a lot more to come in 2017!
